Buckner - Sutton
Karen Amanda Sutton became the wife of Stephen Andrew Buckner of Summerlins Crossroads Saturday, Feb. 12, at 4 p.m.
The Rev. Mickey Whitfield officiated at the double-ring ceremony at Mount Olive First Pentecostal Holiness Church.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Billy Sutton of Mount Olive. She is the granddaughter of Mabel Sutton of Mount Olive, the late Earl Sutton, Frankie Andrews of Calypso and the late Lowell Andrews.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Summerlin of Summerlins Crossroads and Mr. and Mrs. David Buckner of Archdale. He is the grandson of James and Sandy Buckner of Greensboro, Maggie Witherington of Mount Olive and the late Bill Witherington.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a sleeveless white town adorned with lace and beading.
For her headpiece, she chose a flowered rhinestone and pearl tiara with a fingertip-length veil adorned with teardrop diamonds. She carried a cascading bouquet of white roses with an assortment of white flowers.
Lindsay Sutton, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Kellie Witherington, Ashley Sutton and April Tillman, cousins of the bride.
Joe Summerlin was his stepson’s best man. Groomsmen were Allen Jernigan, Freddy Southerland and Michael Brock.
Madeline Swinson, cousin of the bride, was flower girl.
Hope Barwick, cousin of the bride, directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Lori Tillman, aunt of the bride. Melissa Summerlin, sister of the groom, and Shanna Andrews, cousin of the bride, distributed programs.
A program of wedding music was provided by Deborah, Jon and Paul Kornegay, friends of the couple, violinists, and Meredith Karcher, friend of the couple, vocalist.
After a wedding trip to the coast, the couple is residing in Mount Olive.
The bride is a 2000 graduate of North Duplin High School and a 2004 graduate of Campbell University with a degree in elementary education. She is employed as a second grade teacher at North Duplin Elementary School.
The groom graduated from North Duplin High School in 1999 and Wayne Community College in 2002 with a degree in livestock and poultry technology. He is employed as the HACCP coordinator with Case Farms.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the church fellowship hall.
The groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner Feb. 11 in the church fellowship hall.
Vickie Sutton and Janet Hollingsworth, aunts of the bride, and Daphne Swinson, cousin of the bride, held a bridal shower in January.
In December, Brooke Kelly and Ashley Stevens, friends of the bride, held a Christmas shower at Calypso Baptist Church.
The groom’s mother held a bridal shower in November.
In September, the bride’s mother and Lindsay Sutton, sister of the bride, held a bridal shower.
