Margaret Claire Shaw of Wilmington and Thomas Henry Suddarth III of Wilmington were united in holy matrimony Oct. 23 at 6 p.m.
Dr. William L. Hufham officiated at the double-ring ceremony at First Presbyterian Church.
Parents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Hill Shaw of Goldsboro. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Lester Lee Pullen of Rocky Mount and Mrs. Benjamin Love Shaw and the late Mr. Shaw of Durham.
Parents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Henry Suddarth Jr. of Chapel Hill. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Henry Suddarth Sr. of Hendersonville, Tenn., and the late Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Roache of Mullens, W. Va.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore an ivory silk mikado gown with a portrait neckline, beaded illusion cap sleeves, a beaded bodice of pearls and crystals and a cathedral-length train with a beaded pattern along the hemline.
For her headpiece, she chose a tiara of Swarovski crystals and pearls with a fingertip-length veil with satin ribbon edging. She carried a clutch bouquet of white and ivory Virginia roses, miniature calla lilies and stephanotis.
Emily Catherine Olson of Washington D.C. was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Madolyn Ann Harward of Apex, Julie Elizabeth McDaniel of Buies Creek, Angela Kay Skinner of Charlotte and Barbara Louise Worley of Orlando, Fla.
Kenneth Michael Rahn of Virginia Beach, Va., was best man. Groomsmen were Spencer Lee Eckard of Charlotte, Timothy Patrick O’Brien of Nashville, Tenn., Michael Peter Werrell of Portland, Maine, Thomas Sterling Suddarth of Kernersville and Mark Pullen Shaw of Mooresville.
Haley Laurinda Easthom and Emily Anne Easthom of Chapel Hill were flower girls.
Isabelle Doss directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Erin Rinn Jones. Jessi Lail and Katie Lail distributed programs.
A program of wedding music was provided by William B. Hayes, organist; Emily Laurance, harpist; and Rosalyn Lomax and Thomas Hill Shaw, vocalists.
After a wedding trip to Hawaii, the couple will reside in Wilmington.
The bride is a 1997 graduate of Eastern Wayne High School and a 2001 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a bachelor of arts degree in psychology.
The groom graduated from Cape Fear Academy of Wilmington in 1996 and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2000 with a bachelor of arts degree in economics. He attends the University of North Carolina at Wilmington for a master’s degree in business administration.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents held a reception at Walnut Creek Country Club. Phyllis Patterson assisted. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Slozak greeted guests.
On Oct. 23, Linda Perdue, Betty Jo Slozak, Candy Whitley and Sue Woodyard held a wedding day brunch at McChesney Hall at First Presbyterian Church.
The bride’s parents held a rehearsal dinner Oct. 22 at Goldsboro Country Club.
Delores Lail, Jessi Lail and Katie Lail held a scrapbook party Oct. 22 at the home of the bride.
On Oct. 22, Becky Ryals and Anna Ryals, cousins of the bride, held a bridesmaids’ luncheon at the home of the bride.
Friends of the bride held a kitchen shower Oct. 3 at McChesney Hall of First Presbyterian Church.
On Sept. 17, the groom’s attendants held a bachelor weekend in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
The bride’s attendants held a bachelorette weekend Sept. 17 in Charleston, S.C.
On Aug. 7, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Pullen, uncle and aunt of the bride, and Ashley Pullen, cousin of the bride, held a pig picking in Rocky Mount.
The bridal party held a bridal shower and tea July 24 at Carolina Inn of Chapel Hill.
Nelda Shaw Triplett, aunt of the bride, held a bridal luncheon April 15 at Carolina Inn of Chapel Hill.
On Feb. 1, the groom’s parents held an engagement luncheon at Chapel Hill Country Club.
