Smith - Lewis
PIKEVILLE — Azure Dee Lewis of Goldsboro and Ronnie Dwayne Smith of Goldsboro said their promises Sept. 24.
The Rev. Jerry Mitchell officiated at the double-ring ceremony at Mount Carmel United Methodist Church.
Parents of the bride are Cheryl Lewis Capps of Louisburg and Edward Leon Lewis of Pikeville. She is the granddaughter of Sandy Kelley and the late Reid Kelley of Goldsboro and Ruth Lewis and the late Rev. Leon Lewis of Pikeville.
William and Carolyn Dail of Chocowinity and the late Ronnie Smith are parents of the groom. He is the grandson of the late Henreitta and Linwood Carter, J.B. Smith of Goldsboro and the late Ruby Smith.
Given in marriage by her family and escorted by her father, the bride wore a white satin gown with a handbeaded top and bottom edge of pearls. The semi-cathedral train was handbeaded with a beaded edge.
For her headpiece, she chose a silver flowered headband with a two-tiered veil with a pencil edge. She carried white daisies and burgundy mums with ivy and lights with three handkerchiefs from her grandmothers.
Lucianna Cox, friend of the bride, was matron of honor. Melissa Jones, cousin of the groom, was maid of honor.
Jordan Smith was his father’s best man. Eddie Smith, brother of the groom, was the groomsman. Ushers were Wesley Capps, cousin of the groom, and Justin Lewis, cousin of the bride.
Amber Belt, friend of the bride, and Natalie Capps, cousin of the groom, were flower girls.
Chase Smith, son of the groom, was the miniature groom.
Vickie Pate directed the wedding. Presiding at the register were Kelly Mitchell and Frances Mandeville, friends of the bride. Ivy Beasley and Elizabeth Gainey, cousins of the bride, distributed programs.
A program of wedding music was provided by Jennifer Lane, friend of the bride, and Ryan Lewis, cousin of the bride, vocalists, and chimes of the church.
After a wedding trip to the beach, the couple is residing in Goldsboro.
The bride is a 1996 graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School. She is employed at McCalls Barbecue and Seafood.
The groom attended Eastern Wayne High School. He is employed as a truck driver for North Carolina Salvage.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the church. Jean Wooten and Myra Brooks served the wedding cake. Elizabeth Womble poured punch. Sandy Kelly said good-byes.
On Sept. 18, friends held a lingerie shower at the home of Kelly Mitchell.
Friends held a miscellaneous shower Aug. 29 at Mount Carmel Church.
