Tracey Michelle Hux and Christopher James Drake exchanged wedding vows Oct. 2 at 4 p.m.

The Rev. Billy Rose officiated at the double-ring garden ceremony at the home of the bride’s parents.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Doyce Barnes and Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Hux of Goldsboro. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Babson of Delco, Reba Barnes of Goldsboro, the late Mr. and Mrs. Stedman Hux of Princeton and the late Gaines Barnes.

Parents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. James C. Drake Jr. of Goldsboro. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. James C. Drake Sr. of Sedley, Va., the late Joseph W. Beale Jr. and Mary Louise Keen of Franklin, Va.

Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a formal gown of white chiffon with a sweetheart neckline accented with a sleeveless bodice. The fitted bodice was embellished with re-embroidered lace pearls and sequins. The A-line skirt was adorned with beaded lace and satin floral accents and cascaded into a cathedral train.

For her headpiece, she chose a tiara of rhinestones and pearls accented with a two-tiered cathedral-length veil of silk illusion adorned with stardust crystals fashioned with a pencil edge. She carried a cascading bouquet of white lilies, miniature calla lilies and red roses with hypericum berries.

Christa M. Wright, sister of the bride, was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Crystal Case of Goldsboro, stepsister of the bride; Auleana Barnes of Goldsboro, sister-in-law of the bride; Heather Kearney of Raleigh, Amie Parrish of Goldsboro and Amy Faucette, friends of the bride; and Tammy Dawson of Goldsboro, sister of the groom.

James C. Drake was his son’s best man. Groomsmen were Doyce Barnes of Goldsboro, stepfather of the bride; Stephen Barnes of Goldsboro, stepbrother of the bride; Jeff Medlin of Clayton and Bevo Weaver and Gary Hinton of Goldsboro, friends of the groom; and Kyle Karcher of Goldsboro, friend of the bride.

Junior bridesmaids were Ashleigh Robinson, niece of the groom, and Kayla Barnes of Rocky Mount, cousin of the bride.

Honorary bridesmaids were Beth McAlduff of Winterville, Dana Sutton of LaGrange and Caroline Karcher of New Bern, friends of the bride, and Heather Hawkins of Charleston, S.C., and Amy Babson of Wilmington, cousins of the bride.

Raegynn Wright, niece of the bride, was the miniature bride. Andrew Barnes, nephew of the bride, was the miniature groom.

Savannah Wright, niece of the bride, was flower girl. Andrew Dawson, nephew of the groom, was ring bearer.

Phyllis Parrish and Anita Faucette directed the wedding. Presiding at the register were Mr. and Mrs. David Earl Williams. Cole and Andrew Lancaster distributed programs.

A program of wedding music was provided by Phil Huffman, pianist, and Meredith Karcher of Goldsboro and 1st Lt. Kenneth Karcher of New Bern, vocalists.

After a wedding trip to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, the couple will reside in Goldsboro.

The bride is a 1998 graduate of Eastern Wayne High School and a 2000 graduate of Wayne Community College’s dental assisting program. She is employed as a certified dental assistant with Dr. Kent S. Denton.

The groom graduated from Eastern Wayne High School in 1990 and Wayne Community College in 1993 with an associate’s degree in business. He is employed with UPS and as an independent contractor with the Goldsboro News-Argus.

Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents held a dinner and dance reception.

On Oct. 1, the groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner and dance at Walnut Creek Country Club. The groom chose this time to present gifts to his attendants.

Sue Kearney and Phyllis Parrish held a bridal luncheon Sept. 25 at the home of the bride’s parents. The bride chose this time to present gifts to her attendants.

On Sept. 21, Brenda Karcher and Meredith Karcher held a Pampered Chef shower.

Friends of the groom held a bachelor weekend Sept. 10 in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

On Sept. 11, Crystal Case, Auleana Barnes and Christa Wright held a lingerie shower at the Case home.

Co-workers of the bide held a shower luncheon Sept. 8 at Billie’s on the Green.

On Aug. 21, DeAnn Lear and Brenda Karcher held a miscellaneous shower at Eagle Heights Baptist Church.

Family and friends held a bachelorette weekend Aug. 13 in Wilmington.
