Laura Leigh Anderson of Goldsboro became the bride of Sean Christopher Owens Saturday, Sept. 18 at 2 p.m.

Bill Garner and Stewart Woodley officiated at the double-ring ceremony at New Hope Friends Meeting.

Linwood and Darla Anderson are parents of the bride. She is the granddaughter of the late David and Frances Giles of Chapel Hill and the late Roy and Ruby Anderson of Goldsboro.

Eugene and Nancy Owens of Greenville are parents of the groom. He is the grandson of Ronder and Marilyn Barbee of Sunset Beach, the late Napoleon and Rosalie Owens of Wilmington and the late Edna Barbee of Charlotte.

Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a white gown of matte satin. The scalloped top of the mock two-piece had a beaded bodice of pearls and lace. The A-line skirt had a matching scalloped border. Satin buttons streamed the length of the chapel-length train. She also wore elbow-length white gloves embellished with pearls and sequins.

For her headpiece, she chose a fingertip veil of white tulle with satin edging and a scattering of pearls and sequins.

Farrah Owens, sister-in-law of the groom, and Julie McClain, friend of the bride, were matrons of honor. Bridesmaids were Melanie Anderson, sister-in-law of the bride, and Amanda Barbee, Tracey Davis and Heather Smingler, friends of the bride.

Eugene Owens was his son’s best man. Ushers were Robert Owens and Richard Owens, brothers of the groom; David Anderson, brother of the bride; and Thumper Brooks and Greg Tuten, friends of the groom.

Maya Owens, niece of the groom, was flower girl. Jonathan Anderson, nephew of the bride, was ring bearer.

Beth Alexander, aunt of the bride, directed the wedding. Presiding at the register and distributing programs was Anna Giles, cousin of the bride.

A program of wedding music was provided by Elaine Edwards, friend of the bride, and Beth Alexander, aunt of the bride, pianists, and Josh Alexander, cousin of the bride, vocalist.

After a wedding cruise to the Caribbean, the couple will reside in Greenville.

The bride is a 1994 graduate of Eastern Wayne High School, a 1996 graduate of Wayne Community College with an associate of arts degree in college transfer, a 1998 and 2000 graduate of East Carolina University with a bachelor of science degree in exercise and sports science and a master of arts degree in exercise and sports science and a 2004 graduate of Fayetteville Technical Community College with an associate of applied science degree in physical therapist assistant. She is employed as a physical therapist assistant with Goldsboro Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation.

The groom graduated from D. H. Conley High School in 1996 and East Carolina University in 2001 with a bachelor of science degree in construction management. He is employed as project manager with Baldwin and Associates.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the church family life center.

A rehearsal dinner was held Sept. 17 at Lane Tree Golf Club.

Sept. 10 through 12, a bachelor weekend was held.

A bachelorette weekend was held Sept. 10 through 12.

On Sept. 10, a shower was held at Goldsboro Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation.

Farrah Owens held a lingerie shower Sept. 5.

On Aug. 22, a cookout was held at the home of the groom’s parents.

A miscellaneous shower was held Aug. 15 at University Church of Christ of Greenville.

On Aug. 7, a bridesmaids’ luncheon was held at Billie’s on the Green.

A miscellaneous shower was held Aug. 1 at New Hope Friends Meeting.
