Mrs. McCarter

Patricia Shumate Faulk and Arley Elbert McCarter were united in marriage Sunday, Aug. 1 at 4 p.m.

The Rev. Johnny Sasser and the Rev. Joseph C. Leonard Jr. officiated at the double-ring ceremony at Emmaus Baptist Church.

The bride is the daughter of Mae Warrick Shumate of Dudley and the late Harry Jones Shumate Jr.

The groom is the son of the late Roney and Mae White McCarter.

Given in marriage by her mother, the bride wore a formal-length mauve dress with a flowing mermaid hem of georgette material and a sleeveless overlay top and a matching jacket. Embellishments of crystal beading were accented on top of the dress and jacket.

She carried a bouquet of white calla lilies.

Attendants were Wilson James Brown and Madison Snow Brown escorted by Suzanne Faulk Brown, Savannah Suzanne Brown escorted by Philip Shumate Faulk and Patricia Diane Faulk and Emma Ashley Faulk escorted by James Venable Faulk Jr.

Michael Morgan was his stepfather’s best man.

Mrs. Johnny Sasser directed the ceremony. Presiding at the guest register were Mr. and Mrs. Dexton Mozingo.

A program of wedding music was provided by Ila Strickland, pianist, and Ashley Kornegay Faulk and Richard W. Pridgen, vocalists.

The couple is residing in Dudley.

The bride is a graduate of Goldsboro High School and Rex Hospital School of Nursing. She is employed as vice president and funeral director at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home and Crematory.

The groom graduated from Goldsboro High School. He is a retired assistant chief of Goldsboro Fire Department with 30 years service.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the church E.L. Roberts fellowship hall.

On July 18, Goldsboro Worship Center held a celebration luncheon.

Emmaus Baptist Church held a luncheon July 4.
