EUREKA — Rebecca Diane Thomas of Wilmington and Eric Paul Brown of Wilmington pledged their promises Aug. 7 at 3 p.m.

The Rev. Robert Fletcher officiated at the double-ring ceremony at Eureka United Methodist Church.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald B. Thomas of Fremont. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gus M. Cumbee of McClellanville, S.C., and the late Robert B. Thomas Sr. and Bertha P. Thomas of Fremont.

Mr. and Mrs. James W. Norton of Blackshear, Ga., and the late Aubrey Harlan Brown of Wallace are parents of the groom. He is the grandson of the late Cecil Eubanks and Emma Eubanks of Wilmington, the late Charles Brown and Doris Brown of Wallace and the late Junior Norton and Virginia Norton of Holden Beach.

The bride was given in marriage by her family and escorted by her father.

Martha Langley of Fremont and Dorothy Thomas of Wilmington, sisters of the bride, were matrons of honor. Bridesmaids were Dee Bartlett of Raleigh, friend of the bride; Amanda Gray, Amy Yelverton and Ashley Yelverton of Fremont, cousins of the bride; and Jennifer Norton of Blackshear, sister of the groom.

James Norton was his son’s best man. Groomsmen were Tommy Eason and Dannel Lamm of Wilmington, friends of the groom; David Sellers of Wilmington and Phillip Brown of Greenville, cousins of the groom; and Mike Wilson of Wilmington and Jessie Langley of Fremont, brothers-in-law ofthe bride.

Sydney Langley of Fremont, niece of the bride, was the junior bridesmaid.

Regan Kasulis, cousin of the bride, was flower girl. Kendall Langley, nephew of the bride, was ring bearer.

Jane Thomas directed the ceremony. Presiding at the register and distributing programs was Emily Brown.

A program of wedding music was provided by Becky Brock, pianist; and Bill Boyd and Candace Gainey, vocalists.

After a wedding trip to Riviera Maya, Mexico, the couple will reside in Wilmington.

The bride is a 2001 graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School. She attends the University of North Carolina at Wilmington for a degree in special education.

The room graduated from Laney High School in 1994. He is employed as a sheriff’s deputy with New Hanover County Sheriff’s Department.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the church. Edna Braswell, aunt of the bride, served the wedding cake.

A rehearsal dinner was held Aug. 6 at Eureka Church.

On July 11, the bride’s family held a bridal shower at Eureka Church.

The groom’s family held a bridal shower July 9 at Pine Valley Church of God of Wilmington.
