BALD HEAD ISLAND — Vickie Lynn Stroud and Michael Dean Robinson were united in marriage Sunday, June 20 at 5 p.m.

The Rev. Garrett Albertson officiated at the double-ring ceremony at the Village Chapel.

Parents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Leon Stroud of Albertson. She is the granddaughter of Elizabeth S. Grady, the late Paul Allen Grady and the late Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Stroud.

Parents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. Elisha Dortch “Ed” Robinson of Kinston.

Presented in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a candlelight gown of crystal organza and satin with a halter neckline and a keyhole back. The corset bodice was embellished with re-embroidered lace, pearls and sequins and ended in a Basque waist. The full skirt of crystal organza was adorned with beaded lace motifs enhanced with pearls and sequins that cascaded into an imperial train.

For her headpiece, she chose her Miss America Preliminary crown of rhinestones enhanced with a two-tiered veil of silk illusion adorned with touches of stardust crystals with a penciled edge. She carried a clutch bouquet of blush white and cream ranunculus roses with accents of spray roses and butter garden roses accented with lady’s mantle and tweedia.

Heather Loftin Midgley of Bennettsville, S.C., cousin of the bride, was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Kendra Faye Stroud of Albertson, nieces of the bride; Kim Hobbs Lane of Winterville, cousin of the bride; Doreen Sessoms Smith of Beulaville, Shasta McAllister Culbreth of Godwin and Traci Riggs Baysden of Jacksonville, friends of the bride.

Ed Robinson was his son’s best man. Groomsmen were Donald G. Robinson of Kinston, brother of the groom; Gary D. Golding of Kinston, friend of the groom; Donald G. Robinson Jr. of Kinston, nephew of the groom; Thomas L. Stroud Jr. of Albertson, brother of the bride; and William L. “Billy” Whaley of Kinston, cousin of the groom.

Kristin Nechol Stroud of Albertson, niece of the bride, was the junior bridesmaid.

Kacey Alex Robinson of Kinston, niece of the groom, was flower girl. Ethan Thomas Stroud of Albertson, nephew of the bride, was ring bearer.

Martha Hayworth of Bald Head Island directed the ceremony. Paula Whaley, friend of the couple, distributed programs.

A program of wedding music was provided by Wade Steele Sasser Jr., organist and pianist, and Michelle Johnson Braxton, vocalist.

After a wedding trip to Boston, Cape Cod and Martha’s Vineyard, Mass., the couple is residing in Kinston.

The bride is a graduate of East Duplin High School and Mount Olive College with a bachelor of arts degree in English and a concentration in communications. She is employed as director of development at Mount Olive College.

The groom graduated from South Lenoir High School. He is self-employed with M.D. Robinson Farms and R&K Trucking LLC.

Following the ceremony, a dinner and dance reception was held at Bald Head Island Club. Mr. and Mrs. John Marston, friends of the couple, greeted guests.

On June 26, friends held a welcome-to-your-new-home reception.

Marilyn Holten, aunt of the bride, and Pam Trotter, cousin of the bride, held a bridal brunch June 20 at Bald Head Island Club’s green room.

On June 19, the groom’s parents held a low country boil rehearsal dinner at Bald Head Island Club.

Janice Simmons, Doreen Smith, Kathy Loftin, Kim Lane, Dianne Hudson, Elizabeth Howard and Maxine Turner held a miscellaneous shower and backyard barbecue June 5 at the home of Tom and Brenda Stroud.

On May 27, Heather Astopenia, Rhonda Jessup, Alanna King, Becky Mitchell and Jennifer Merritt held a luncheon and shower at Oliver’s Railroad Grill.

Leroy and Pat Whaley, O’Neal and Debra Heath, Sammy and JoAnn Hill, Jack and Darnell Jones, Kay and Donald Robinson and the groom’s parents held a luncheon May 16 at Pleasant Hill Christian Church.

On May 1, Billy and Paula Whaley held a couple’s dinner at their home in Pleasant Hill.

The bride’s church family at Harper Southerland Presbyterian Church held a celebration luncheon April 4.

March 26 through 28, Kim Hobbs Lane and Heather Loftin Midgley held a pamper-the-bride/bachelorette weekend at the Midgley home in Ocean Isle.
