MOUNT OLIVE — Amy Beth Triplett of Mount Olive and Walter Lee Kennedy Jr. were united in holy matrimony July 10 at 3 p.m.

The Rev. Dennis Atwood officiated at the double-ring ceremony at First Baptist Church.

Parents of the bride are Stephen Triplett of Westerville, Ohio, and Regina Burson of Pickerington, Ohio. She is the granddaughter of the late Paul Triplett and Garnet Triplett of Westerville and the late Fred Schaaf and Mary Schaaf of Columbus, Ohio.

Mr. and Mrs. Walter Lee Kennedy of Goldsboro are parents of the groom. He is the grandson of the late Leon Taylor, the late John and Hazel Kennedy and Sudie Mae Taylor of Goldsboro.

Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father and stepfather, the bride wore an ivory satin A-line strapless gown with a cuff neckline with hand-embroidered accents with pearls and sequins trailing from the bodice down to the chapel-length train.

For her headpiece, she chose a tiara of pearl flowers and rhinestones with a two-tiered veil adorned with satin trim. She carried a mixed bouquet of pink roses accented with candlelight satin ribbon.

Tera Renee’ Kilian of Wilmington, cousin of the bride, was maid of honor.

Walter Lee Kennedy was his son’s best man. Timothy Brian Kennedy of Goldsboro, brother of the groom, was the groomsman. Ushers were Michael Christopher Cox of Goldsboro and Kevin Darrell King of Durham, friends of the groom.

Elizabeth Coe Burson of Pickerington, sister of the bride, was the junior flower girl.

Opey Dew Jeanes of Mount Olive, friend of the couple, directed the ceremony. Presiding at the register was Holly Elizabeth Tyo of Grove City, Ohio, sister of the bride.

Victoria Elizabeth Tyo of Grove City, niece of the bride, distributed program. Kimberly Thornell of Canal Winchester, Ohio, friend of the bride, was Scripture reader.

A program of wedding music was provided by Bess Edwards-Sawyer, organist, and Sharon Hinnant Cox, vocalist.

After a wedding trip to Colorado, the couple will reside in Dudley.

The bride is a graduate of Reynoldsburg High School of Ohio and Mount Olive College with a bachelor of science degree in visual communications. She is employed by Sampson County School District as an art instructor with Hobbton High School.

The groom graduated from Southern Wayne High School and North Carolina State University with a bachelor of science degree in accounting. He is employed with Mount Olive Pickle Co. as accounting manager.

Following the ceremony, the couple’s parents held a reception at the church. Mrs. John Robert Kennedy and Mrs. Samuel Everett Thornton greeted guests. Edna Earl Capps and Mary Margaret Ryan served the wedding cake. Christine Alena Kilian and Mrs. Durwood Royal Kennedy poured punch.

On July 9, the groom’s parents held a dinner at Oliver’s Railroad and Grille. The couple chose this time to present gifts to their attendants.

The groom’s parents held a family gathering July 8.

June 12 through 14, Christine Kilian, aunt of the bride, held a bridal weekend gathering in Wilmington.

Aunts of the groom held a shower May 30 at Black Jack Free Will Baptist Church.

On May 23, Lorelle Martin held a shower at her home.
