Milsted - Obermeit
WILSON — Suelinda Lajoie Obermeit and Carl Stephen Milsted Jr. of Asheville exchanged promises April 18 at 11:30 a.m.
Pastor Kevin Morgan officiated at the double-ring ceremony at Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
Horst Werner and Sue Obermeit of Kenly are parents of the bride. She is the granddaughter of Gerhard Obermeit of Sarasota, Fla., the late Hilde Obermeit, Edith Lashua of Clearwater, Fla., and the late Harley Lashua.
Carl Stephen Milsted Sr. of Jacksonville and Evelyn Ward Overton of Warsaw, Va., are parents of the groom. He is the grandson of Ruby Ward Milsted of Swansboro, the late Edgar Leneve Milsted and the late William Randolph and Evelyn Davidson Ward of Warsaw.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a white matte satin gown with a sweetheart neckline, an A-line skirt and puffed cap sleeves. Lines of pearls and white satin roses cascaded from the left bodice to the right skirt front. The back was accentuated with a tulle bustle bordered by white satin roses that flowed to floor-length.
For her headpiece, she chose a floral wreath of silk roses and pearls with a waist-length veil and a blusher. She carried an arm bouquet of purple iris, pink carnations, yellow rosebuds, purple tulips, white hyacinths and daisies.
Theresa Hillman, friend of the bride, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Ann King, friend of the bride, and Shana Obermeit of Sarasota, cousin of the bride.
Edgar Leneve Milsted II of Warsaw was his brother’s best man. Groomsmen were Bernard Carman of Asheville and Kevin Rollins of Dale City, Va., friends of the groom. Ushers were Brandt Obermeit and Morgen Obermeit, brothers of the bride.
Shelley Rose, friend of the bride, was the junior bridesmaid.
Whitney Rose, Heather Aycock and Oriana Aycock were flower girls. Joseph Hoang of Mechanicsville, Va., nephew of the groom, was ring bearer.
Susie Toffton directed the ceremony. Presiding at the register was Maria Marx.
Special helpers were Leslie Averill, Maria Marx and Cynthia Aycock.
A program of wedding music was provided by Catherine Hoang of Mechanicsville, sister of the groom, and Silvia Judd, friend of the bride, pianists, and Heather Aycock and Oriana Aycock, vocalists.
After a wedding trip to Seabrook Island, S.C., the couple is residing in Asheville.
The bride attended Charles B. Aycock High School and Wayne Community College. She is employed as an art, math and English tutor.
The groom graduated magna cum laude from the University of Richmond with a bachelor of science degree in physics and math and from the University of Texas at Dallas with a Ph.D. in physics. He is chairman of the Libertarian Party of Buncombe County. He is employed as a senior physicist with AttoTek Inc.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the church fellowship hall.
Out-of-town guests were from Oxnard, Calif.; Portland, Maine; Sarasota and Clearwater, Fla.; Warsaw, Va.; and Jacksonville.
On April 17, a rehearsal dinner was held at Something Different of Wilson.
Kendra Young and Julie Gjesdal held a bridal shower Feb. 14 at Farmville Church of God Seventh Day.
