Thornton-Strickland
PIKEVILLE — Lisa Rebecca Strickland and Danny Levon Thornton were wed Feb. 28 at 2 p.m.
The Rev. Eddie McKeel officiated at the double-ring ceremony at Faro Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church.
The bride is the daughter of Joseph Edward Strickland of Kinston and the late Rebecca Strickland.
The groom is the son of the late Thaddeus and Eva Mae Thornton of Goldsboro.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a formal gown of white satin and organza lace with an off-the-shoulder neckline. The fitted bodice was embellished with floral embroidery adorned with sequins and pearls. The A-line skirt was embroidered and cascaded into a semi-cathedral train.
For her headpiece, she chose a two-tiered veil attached to a tiara covered with rhinestones, sequins and pearls. She carried a cascading bouquet of blue irises, white roses, white carnations and assorted flowers.
Sandra Gurley of Goldsboro, friend of the bride, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Tammy Strickland of Greenville and Julia Strickland of Kinston, sisters-in-law of the bride; Candis Stepps of Greenville, cousin of the bride; and Dana Whaley of Raleigh, daughter of the groom.
Groomsmen were Spencer Strickland of Kinston and Joseph Strickland of Greenville, brothers of the bride; Dylan Strickland of Greenville, nephew of the bride; and Tommy Whaley of Raleigh, son-in-law of the groom.
Hannah Whaley of Raleigh, granddaughter of the groom, was the junior bride. Gabriel Whaley of Raleigh, grandson of the groom, was the junior groom.
Haley Strickland of Greenville, niece of the bride, was flower girl. Brad Strickland of Kinston, nephew of the bride, was ring bearer.
After a wedding trip to Myrtle Beach, S.C., the couple is residing in Goldsboro.
The bride is a graduate of Kinston High School. She is employed at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
The groom attended Southern Wayne High School. He is owner of Thornton Roofing and Home Repair.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the church fellowship hall.
On Jan. 30, Tammy Strickland, Nana Harris and Julia Strickland held a bridal shower at the Harris home in Greenville.
Sandra Gurley, Tracy Jackson and Regina Lee held a bridal shower Jan. 29 at the Gurley home.
