PREP CROSS COUNTRY: Golden Falcons claim boys' portion of ECC 3A-4A meet

WINTERVILLE -- Davis Carroll and Chance Hobday crossed the finish line third and fourth, respectively, and helped Charles B. Aycock emerge victorious during an Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference meet contested at Boyd Lee Park on Thursday afternoon.

Carroll ran the 5k course in 19 minutes, 6.83 seconds. Hobday finished in 19:29.1.

Paced by their top two runners, the Golden Falcons amassed 44 points -- 14 better than runner-up J.H. Rose.

CBA's Guy Crane ended up 10th in 20:43.23. Christopher Crowe and Brady LaVois secured 13th and 14th, respectively.

Eastern Wayne's Julian Jones continued his impressive start with a 12th-place effort of 20:58.72. The next-fastest Warrior was Zach Wilt in 32nd at 22:52.18. Malexen Joseph posted EW's third-best time of 23:49.36.

Ryan Norton led Southern Wayne with a 28th-place run in 22:26.5.

On the girls' side, the Saints' Caroline Best was the top runner from Wayne County with a 30th-place performance among 62 competitors. Best turned in a time of 29:01.75.

The Golden Falcons' Taylor Nevin-Burke grabbed 34th in 29:23.46. Teammates KyLisa Sewell took 41st overall in 30:58.82, while Jasmine LaTour ran the course in 39:50.62.

Amina Becirovic paced Eastern Wayne with a time of 31:11.01, good enough for 43rd.
