PINETOWN -- North Duplin came down with a bad case of fumble-itis Friday evening.
The Rebels coughed up the pigskin on six occasions in a 22-0, non-conference loss to Northside. The loss halted the reigning east 1-A champs' regular-season win streak at 15.
Northside recovered a fumble on North Duplin's first play of the game, and picked up another loose ball on the visitors' first play of their second offensive possession.
The turnovers resulted in good field position for the Panthers and left the Rebels' defense behind the 8-ball most of the evening.
Saul Mendoza paced North Duplin's run-oriented attack with 33 yards on seven totes. Kijah Blow added 27 yards.
The Rebels cobbled out just 117 yards of total offense -- 95 rushing, 22 passing -- on 35 plays.
North Duplin (1-1 overall) returns to action Thursday at South Lenoir.
