GREENVILLE -- Perennial powerhouse Wilmington Post 10 appeared poised to beat Wayne County Post 11 in the 68th installment of their series Saturday afternoon.

Josh Hartsfield didn't let it happen.

The rising junior at Goldsboro mashed a sixth-inning, grand-slam home run to lift Wayne County to a 5-3 victory in the Area I vs. Area II Challenge at Overton Field.

It was Hartsfield's first grand slam of his Senior Legion career.Luke Frederick slapped one out of the park as Wayne County capped the day with a 9-1 trouncing of Wallace Post 156. Tucker Chapin threw five solid innings for Post 11, which has won all three meetings against Wallace this season.

"It felt great," Chapin said. "I was able to control the strike zone because all of my pitches were working."

Down 3-0 to Wilmington, Yarbrough erased the goose egg on the scoreboard with a solo home run in the sixth. Post 11 continued to put pressure on the Post 10 defense with base runners before Hartsfield deposited his bases-clearing shot over the fence.

"Christian [Yarbrough] had another strong game at the plate," WC Post 11 head coach Adam Pate said. "[We] played very well today in both games."

Jonathan Peacock came out of the bullpen to earn his first pitching decision of the season.

"A great relief outing [for JP]," Pate said.

Kolby Harris collected his first save.

Wayne County (10-1 overall) continues play in the Challenge today against Jacksonville Post 265.
