Girls' Basketball --Eastern Wayne 61, Western Alamance 53

Nyesha Best scored 17 points, dished five assists and grabbed four rebounds on Tuesday to propel Eastern Wayne to a 61-53 victory over Western Alamance during first-round play of the N.C. High School Athletic Association 3A girls' basketball playoffs.
The Lady Warriors will travel to face No. 1 seed Jacksonville High on Thursday.
Myesha Best also performed ably for the Lady Dubs, scoring 14 points. Channing Williams tallied eight points and registered four steals, while Ziomara Williams finished with six points and 10 rebounds.
Western Alamance (19-7) was paced by Emily Loy, who scored 11 points. Lavryn Carlton finished with 10 points, while Morgan Haith tallied eight points.
Eastern Wayne is now 19-6 overall this season.
