HAVELOCK -- Have they any peer?
That's certainly a reasonable question regarding the Rosewood Eagles' varsity wrestling troupe, who shellacked the field on Friday and Saturday at the Big Horn Duals at Havelock.
Over the two days, RHS went a perfect 9-0, pushing its overall mark this season to 33-1.
"The quality of matches we were involved in this weekend was phenomenal," head coach Bill Williamson said. "Our state placers and state qualifiers were pushed and the entire team was challenged."
Spearheading the Eagle onslaught was Christian Decatur, who finished the two-day extravaganza with a 9-0 record. Reid Amodeo also performed ably, going 7-0 on the weekend.
Captain Seth Finney also went unblemished, compiling an 8-0 ledger, while Joey Behrend, David Brown and Blake Jarman won six matches apiece. Jordan Todd finished the event with an 8-1 mark.
On day one, Rosewood dispatched Cleveland by a score of 51-27; Heritage by a 65-15 count; Southwest Onslow in runaway fashion, 60-21; West Carteret by a 44-32 margin; and Saint Stephens, 44-32.
The second day saw the Eagles file a 47-36 victory over Dixon High, followed by a 43-30 triumph over New Bern. RHS closed the proceeding with a 62-19 thrashing of Northside.
The Eagles are next scheduled to wrestle at Wilson Hunt on Thursday, followed by a trip to Ayden-Grifton on Friday for the Charger Duals.
