FRANKLINTON --  Despite strong performances from Austin Doyle (106), Canon Barrett (113) and Devin Maldonado (120), the Charles B. Aycock wrestling troupe fell in decisive fashion to host Franklinton in the opening match of a dual-team event on Tuesday.

The Blues didn't have much luck in the finale, either, and could only muster wins from Doyle, Barrett, Alex Soroka (145) and Zach Creel (152) during a 57-24 loss to Rolesville.

"The frustrating part is that after the improvement we saw on Saturday... it was like we took a step backwards tonight," head coach Brian Doyle noted. "We got good kids that aren't afraid to work in the room, and to see it not transfer from the practice mat to the actual mat is something we need to continue helping them figure out."

The setback moved Aycock to 3-5 on the season. Its next match is scheduled for Nov. 29 at Neuse Charter.
