SEVEN SPRINGS -- Junior guard Demartae Bizzell made quite the introduction on Tuesday night, scoring 17 points in his varsity debut to help East Central 2A member Spring Creek to a 73-66 victory over South Lenoir.

His play was complemented by junior Dominique Morse, who finished with 14 points, and forward Jamerion Dawson, who added 13 points.

Junior point guard Landon Smothers rounded out the even-handed display with 11 points.

"We were pleased with the effort," said SC head coach Taylor Jones. "We were very unselfish."

And as usual, interchangeable.

The Gators, known in recent years for their rangy versatility, assisted on 13 of 24 made field goals on the evening and salted matters by tightening the screws defensively with just two minutes left in the contest.

"They (South Lenoir) kept cutting it down to two, and they have some great athletes," Jones remarked. "They played Monday night, and we hadn't played a game yet... so getting those first-game jitters out, maybe we can be a little bit better and clean some things up."

Following the holiday break, SC travels to Deep Run for a rematch with the Blue Devils.
