WILSON -- After falling in its opening two matches on Saturday, Charles B. Aycock rallied to earn a split at the annual Demon Duals at Fike High School.
CBA fell to Clayton and host Fike to begin the event, but found its form and posted consecutive victories over Nash Central and county foe Southern Wayne to close the proceedings.
Austin Doyle and Zach Creel filed a clean worksheet, going 4-0 on the day. The duo is not 6-0 this season. Doyle finished his career at the Demon Duals with a 13-1 mark.
Junior Devin Maldonado, sophomore Canon Barrett and William Carter also performed ably for the Blues, filing a 3-1 record for the day.
"Overall, we saw improvement as a team," said CBA head coach Brian Doyle. "Compared from our last outing, there was an improvement across the board, which is encouraging... two kids that I was especially proud of were Devin and T'Shon Swinson. Both wrestled with great intensity and heart. T'Shon was simply dominant in his two matches."
Now 3-3 on the season, CBA next sees the mat on Tuesday at Franklinton.
