CALYPSO -- Another week, another nail-biter for the North Duplin Rebels.
William Archer and Co. embarked on an epic, quarter-long drive that occupied the entire fourth stanza before scoring the game-winner with 46 seconds remaining in what can perhaps best be termed a survival contest with Carolina 1-A neighbor Rosewood High.
The contest, a hard-fought see-saw affair, saw both teams in high-velocity mode from the outset -- with each answering the other's production rate.
"What a great game," Rosewood head coach Robert Britt said. "Our boys played their guts out and I hate it for them, but you have to tip your hat to North Duplin and that fourth quarter drive... we just could not get the ball back to our offense."
Michael Reid rushed for 55 yards on 14 carries and scored a touchdown for the Eagles, who fell to 5-5 overall and 2-2 in Carolina 1-A matters.
Tucker Chapin was crisp in the Rosewood passing game, completing 9 of 12 passes for 89 yards. Amrei Atwell hauled in two of those efforts for 40 yards.
North Duplin was paced by Archer's two scores, as well as touchdown runs by Kenny Sheppard and Colby Bass.
Rosewood travels to Princeton next week in a longstanding rivalry matchup, while North Duplin closes out its regular season with a visit from Hobbton.

ROSEBORO -- A week after suffering a heartbreaking home loss to Carolina 1-A foe North Duplin, the Bulldogs couldn't muster a road win at rugged Lakewood.
PHS, now 6-4 overall and 2-2 in league play, finishes the regular season next week with a visit from Rosewood.
