CROSS COUNTRY --Wayne Country Day collects NCISAA boys' state title

CARY -- Paced by Connor Bauer's 5,000 meter time of 18:36.24, the Chargers of Wayne Country Day school won the NCISAA 1-A boys' Cross Country Championship on Friday at the WakeMed Soccer Complex.
Senior Cole Atwood also helped Drive WCDS, finishing with a mark of 19:33.33. Brandon Talton (20:16.85), Cooper Edmondson (20:33.27), Charlie Dees (21:23.19) and Zander Pittman (22:57.07) rounded out the title-winning effort.
"Everyone ran very well today and scored key points when needed," WCDS head coach Robert Glass said. "Our veteran runners stepped up and led the team, and our rookies added the x-factor needed to secure victory... I have high hopes for the future."
