VOLLEYBALL --Wayne Christian suffers quarterfinal loss

Wayne Christian's sterling volleyball season came to an end on Saturday, when it fell to Hickory Christian Academy, 10-25, 18-25 and 17-25 in quarterfinal-round play of the NCISSA 1-A state tournament.
Hope Shook, the CPIC Player of the Year, finished the match with 14 kills, a pair of blocks and four aces. Holly Gurley provided 11 digs and one service ace.
Ashlee Harrelson added five kills, while Kasey Norris tallied 22 assists and four digs. Adelyn Worling finished with one block and two digs.
Sarah Sawyer had one ace, one kill and two digs. Ashton Cobb fashioned a pair of kills, while Madison Wells had a 100 service percentage and one dig.
The Lady Eagles finished the year with an overall mark of 18-7, which included an undefeated run through conference play.
