SNOW HILL -- Amanda Haggerty and Ivy Rouse, the 2017 East Central 2-A doubles champions, played admirably on Friday at Greene Central High School, but fell just short of advancing through regional play and securing a bid to next week's N.C. High School Athletic Association State Championship.
The duo won its opening match over Elizabeth City Northeastern in 6-2, 6-2 fashion, but fell to a seasoned Dixon High outfit in the second session.
"We don't ever see that kind of play, so it's hard to prepare for those scenarios," SC head coach Donna Haggerty said.
