Ben Cohen's hat-trick (three goals) led Wayne Country Day School to a 4-nil victory in opening-round play of the NCISAA soccer championship on Saturday afternoon.
Nehemiya Shaw assisted Cohen just 1:17 into the proceedings, and Luis Lopez brokered the second just three minutes later.
The final salvo in the Charger's opening barrage came at the 6:11 mark, when Christian Garloch scored on an assist by Shaw.
Cohen completed the rout by scoring on a penalty kick, assisted by Bash Attiah, just eight minutes before half.
"We started really well and scored three pretty much straight away, and could have scored more," WCDS head coach Steve Ellis said. "It was a great team performance by everyone."
The Chargers, now 18-3 on the season, must travel to face the tournament's No. 1 overall seed, Hickory Christian Academy, on Tuesday.
Wayne Country Day is slated to host the championship final, which will be played on Oct. 28 at 1 p.m.
