TENNIS --Goldsboro suffers dual-team loss

Goldsboro High fell to Dixon in the opening round of the N.C. High School Athletic Association 2-A Dual Team playoffs on Wednesday by a 6-3 margin.
The Dixon duo of Abbie Korenek-Sophie Korenek started the Bulldog victory in proper form, besting Grace Boros-Rachel Johnson 10-1. Ashley Teilborg-Stella Rogers followed suit by registering another Dixon victory with a 10-4 rout of Haley Jones-Anna Prezbindowski.
GHS clawed out a point in the final doubles match, however, as Crystal Golden-Caitlyn Zawadzki dealt Cara Bailey-Hope Everingham a 10-8 setback.
In singles play, Boros def. A. Korenek, 1-6, 6-3, 10-7; S. Korenek def. Johnson, 6-3, 6-1; Teilborg def. Jones, 6-0, 6-1; Rogers def. Golden, 6-0, 6-3; Bailey def. Prezbindowski, 6-4, 6-7 (2-7), 10-5; and Zawadzki def. Davis, 6-2, 6-2.
Goldsboro ended its season with an overall record of 11-2.
