PREP VOLLEYBALL: Jeffreys, Eagles lead Chargers

Lexi Jeffreys and Cate Eagles turned in career-best performances as Wayne Country Day slipped past Cape Fear Christian 25-21, 25-20, 24-26, 23-25, 15-12 on Friday afternoon.
Jeffreys pounded out a career-high 26 kills.
Hannah Neal provided 13 kills.
First-year setter Cate Eagles distributed 51 assists among her hitters.
Katie Strickland served seven aces.
The Chargers (7-3 overall) open their Coastal Plains Independent 1-A Conference schedule at home Monday against John Paul II.
