PREP FOOTBALL: Gators cruise past Blue Devils

DEEP RUN -- Spring Creek kicked off its 2017 season with a 22-6, non-conference road triumph over South Lenoir on Friday evening.
Jamerion Dawson accounted for two touchdowns -- a 6-yard scoring strike from Collion Kittrell and a 67-yard gallop. Dawson accounted for 168 yards of total offense.
Kittrell added an 8-yard TD run and finished the night 6-for-17 with 113 yards. He connected with Dawson on five occasions and completed a 7-yard pass to Spencer Jameson.
Kittrell also paced the ground attack with 72 yards. Javon Newsome added 52 on eight totes.
In all, the Gators amassed 340 yards of total offense.
Brandon Wood-Potter emerged as the defensive leader with 12 tackles and one quarterback sack. Xavion Garcia posted 12 tackles, followed by Jameson with nine stops. Dawson picked off a Blue Devils pass.
Spring Creek (1-0 overall) returns home Friday to face Lejeune. Game time is 7 p.m. at "The Swamp."
