GIRLS' TENNIS: Golden Falcons start 2017 with a 'W'

WILSON -- Charles B. Aycock swept the singles courts during a season-opening, 8-1 victory over Corinth-Holders at the Wilson Cup Invitational on Monday afternoon.
"Our girls have put in some hard practices and today it paid off," Golden Falcons head coach Gene Stancil said. "I couldn't have been prouder of my girls."
Meredith Jones, Grayson Lane, Lexi Reeves, Hannah Tyndall, Sophia Gumbish and Karlyn Ray each emerged victorious in straight-set fashion during singles play. Reeves posted a shutout, while Tyndall, Gumbish and Ray each dropped one game apiece.
Jones-Ray and Gumbish-Abbie Shackleford each claimed a doubles point for CBA.
