SANFORD -- Hunter Bryson notched a first-half hat trick (three goals) as Wayne Country Day pounded out a 9-0, mercy-rule win over Grace Christian of Sanford on Tuesday afternoon.
Bryson converted two assists from John Thompson and received a goal-scoring pass from Ben Cohen. Cohen ended the day with two goals and two assists.
Thompson provided two assists.
Marquise Newell contributed two goals and one assist. Nehemiya Shaw (one goal), Luis Lopez (PK, assist) and Marcus Metcalf (assist) also got into the scoring act for the Chargers -- now 2-1-0 on the season.
"We created and took our chances tonight," WCDS head coach Steve Ellis said. "A lot of pleasing play from the lads. It was good that we got everyone on the field and the tempo didn't change. We look to take the momentum into our game Friday."
WCDS plays host to Burlington School at 5 p.m.
