HENDERSON -- Jon Bryan recorded Wayne Country Day's lone hit in a season-ending, 2-0 loss to Kerr-Vance Academy during semifinal-round action in the N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association 1-A playoffs Tuesday afternoon.
The second-seeded Spartans plated two third-inning runs on an error, a balk and a bloop single.
John Strickland took the mound loss. He limited KVA to seven hits, one walk and filed seven strikeouts.
"We are going to miss (seniors) Mitch Turnage, John, Jon and Zach Barfield," WCDS head coach Michael Taylor said. "I am very pround of the boys and everything they gave to us this year. It's disappointing to lose, but I tip my hat to KVA. They were good tonight.
"We had a great year and I sure am going to miss seeing those boys on the field every day."
WCDS finished 18-5 overall.
