SANFORD -- Southern Wayne's postseason journey ended with a 10-0, opening-round loss to top-seeded Lee County in the NCHSAA 3-A playoffs Wednesday evening.
First-year head coach Jamie Williams said pitcher Dawn Anderson "did phenomenal on the mound, hitting her spots, but against a good-hitting team like we played, we could not afford to make errors or they would capitalize on them and they did just that."
The Yellow Jackets plated just three earned runs.
Caroline Summerlin provided the Saints' lone hit.
"I am extremely proud of my team and the season we had," Williams said. "Do I think we could have done better? Of course, but to keep the positivity, they played hard and I am a proud coach."
