RALEIGH -- Saint Augustine's University's Tamiya Dortch was named the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) women's field athlete-of-the-week.
Dortch won the women's shot put with a throw of 43 feet, 9 inches during the Johnson C. Smith University Invitational. She ranks second overall in the CIAA in the shot.
A graduate of Eastern Wayne, Dortch is a senior political science major.
The Falcons are ranked No. 6 in the latest NCAA Division II outdoor track and field poll released by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) this week.
St. Augustine's participated in the Aggie Invitational at N.C. A&T State University this weekend.
