PREP BASEBALL: J.H. Rose eases past Southern Wayne

DUDLEY -- J.H. Rose won the "seventh-inning battle" and turned back Southern Wayne 8-6 on the Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference scene Thursday evening.
Tied at 5-5 through six innings, the league-leading Rampants pushed across three seventh-inning runs. The Saints answered with a single run during their final at-bat, but couldn't complete the comeback.
Derek Holsinger (RBI), Aryc Chrisman (two RBI), Jack Casbarro (RBI), Kolby Anderson (RBI), Dylan Whitley and Noah Horton each had one hit for Southern Wayne.
Casbarro, Horton and Holsinger combined for four stolen bases.
Anderson started on the mound and allowed five runs (three earned) on eight hits and struck out seven in a five-inning stint. Casbarro took the loss with two innings of four-hit, one-strikeout relief.
The Saints return to action Saturday against Rosewood in the Golden Leaf Invitaitonal. Game time is 12:30 p.m. at Fleming Stadium in Wilson.
