PIKEVILLE -- Mackenzie Wheeler and Taylor Waddell each threw a one-hitter as Charles B. Aycock swept nemesis South Johnston, 1-0 and 11-0, in non-conference play Friday evening.
The teams played two five-inning games.
Wheeler (4-0) walked one SJ batter during her stint inside the circle.
Tied at 0-0 after 31/2 innings, Mookie Powell reached on a bunt single, stole second and scored the Golden Falcons' lone run on Taylor Puetz's base hit to left field.
Waddell retired three Trojans on strikeouts in the nightcap.
Cassandra Lassiter, Puetz (RBI), Hannah Vinson (RBI), Allison Shingleton (three RBI), Waddell (three RBI) and Georgia Parnell each logged two hits in the mercy-rule triumph.
The Golden Falcons (11-2 overall) travel to New Bern for an Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference game Monday.
