WINTERVILLE -- Southern Wayne teammates Takeitha Glaspie and Kiara Wallace posted regional-qualifying times in the 100-meter dash during a four-team meet ran at South Central HS.

Glaspie placed second in 12.5 seconds. Wallace took third in 12.7.

The duo also participated on the meet-winning 4x1 relay, which crossed the tape in regional-qualifying fashion with a time of 50.1 seconds. Joining them were Erykah Baldwin and Machiah Moore.

Moore topped the field in the 400-meter run, while O'Shaniya Melvin claimed first in the 100 hurdles (18 seconds).

Alexus Elliott turned in a regional-qualifying throw of 102 feet in the discus during a meet earlier in the week.

On the boys' side, the Saints' foursome of Dennis Boseman, Joshua McClain, Will Newsome and Taylen West secured first in the 4x2 relay in 1:32.1. The group was 0.1 second shy of qualifying for the eastern regional.

The Saints return to action Monday for the annual Wayne County Track and Field Championship meet at Rosewood High School. Field events are slated for a 2 p.m. with the track events scheduled to begin 30 minutes later.
