New Bern prevailed at No. 1 doubles and upended Eastern Wayne, 5-4, during their Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference match Wednesday afternoon.
Dylan March and Ian Burchett each triumphed in singles action. March-Nathan Fleming and Anass Sarah-Burchett each seized a doubles point.
"This was a hard-fought match that could have gone either way," Warriors head coach Craig Hassell said. "Our team played their hearts out today coming up just short. (I'm) so proud of their effort and intensity."
The Warriors (6-4 overall, 4-3 ECC) travel to J.H. Rose next Tuesday.
