BASEBALL: J.H. Rose offense erupts in 6th inning at CBA

PIKEVILLE -- Unbeaten and Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference leader J.H. Rose plated seven runs in the sixth inning and handed C.B. Aycock a 10-3 loss at Charles Davis Field on Thursday evening.
The Rampants' offensive explosion broke a 2-2 tie through five innings.
Chris Turner (three RBI), Luke Frederick, Carson Smitherman, Nolan Harrell, Tyler Daniels and Blake Gipson each had one hit for the Golden Falcons.
Frederick started on the mound and surrendered four runs (three earned) on six hits and two walks. Chandler Matthews tossed one inning and permitted five runs (three earned) on five hits.
Gipson tossed one inning of one-run, two-hit relief.
A total of 11 Rampants combined for 15 hits --including two each from Roman Galaska (two RBI), Robby Wacker, Anthony Saieed (RBI) and Tyshawn Barnett (two RBI).
The Golden Falcons (7-4 overall, 2-3 ECC) conclude first-half conference play on the road Tuesday at county arch rival Eastern Wayne.
