GREENVILLE -- Brandon Riley smashed a three-run home run as No. 9-ranked North Carolina toppled East Carolina, 6-2, at Lewis Field inside Clark-LeClair Stadium on Wednesday evening.
Riley ended the night with three hits, four RBI and two runs scored.
Brian Miller added an RBI groundout.
Rodney Hutchinson Jr. tossed 42/3 innings of two-hit, four-strikeout relief for the Tar Heels, who rose to 16-5 overall this season. The Pirates scratched for two earned runs on three hits and a walk off of UNC starter Tyler Baum.
Charles B. Aycock alum Ashton McGee was hit by ECU starter Jacob Wolfe, who endured the mound loss.
Bryce Harman and Charlie Yorgen each drove in a run and were two of five Pirates to record at least one hit. Eric Tyler reached base on three occasions and scored a run. Dusty Baker accounted for ECU's other run.
The No. 25-ranked Pirates dipped to 14-8 overall this season.
