TRACK: Warriors compete in NC Runners Tour #2 meet

ROCKY MOUNT -- Four Eastern Wayne competitors walked away with first-place finishes during the N.C. Runners Tour #2 Invitational contested at Rocky Mount High School.
The girls' team had three individual champs -- Sharadiant Hamilton (300-meter hurdles, 54.22 seconds), Amari Brigman (shot put, 38 feet-2 inches) and Treycie Ford (triple jump, 33-1 1/2).
Second-place efforts were turned in by Hamilton (100-meter hurdles), Brigman (discus 93-10), Kianna Haywood (200 dash) and Taniyah Oates (300 hurdles). The Warriors' 4x1 and 4x4 relays each ended up second during the 18-team meet.
Tiayanna Barnes (100) and Channing Williams (300 hurdles) each claimed third in their respective event.
On the boys' side, the Warriors' William Smith posted the meet's top distance in the triple jump -- 42-7.
Second-place finishers were Yeonte Royal (high jump, 6-2) and the 4x4 relay of Andrew Lewis, Matt Sorrel, Marlon Lewis and Angus Dove. The quartet posted a time of 4:08.82.
