BASEBALL: Frederick, Gipson shut down Hawks

PIKEVILLE -- Luke Frederick and Blake Gipson combined for a one-hitter during Charles B. Aycock's 10-0, mercy-rule triumph over North Lenoir at Charles Davis Field on Wednesday evening.
Frederick issued four walks and retired two NL batters on strikeouts in four innings of work. Gipson tossed an inning of two-strikeout relief.
Bradley Pate sparked the Golden Falcons' offense with three hits and two RBI. Gipson, Chris Turner (RBI) and Carson Smitherman accounted for two hits apiece.
Frederick (two RBI), Tyler Daniels (RBI) and Chandler Matthews (two RBI) each provided one hit.
Zach Turner and Jackson Sullivan each had one hit for the Hawks.
Reed Parris took the pitching loss.
Aycock (4-0 overall) travels to Hunt on Friday.
