GIRLS' BASKETBALL: Rosewood stays in hunt for Carolina 1A crown

SMITHFIELD -- Rosewood remained in the hunt for the Carolina 1-A Conference regular-season title with a 57-50 victory over Neuse Charter on Tuesday evening.
Senior Payton Lane had 17 points, three assists and three steals for the Eagles. Teammate Braylee Butts collected 15 points, seven rebounds and four steals.
Nekia Williams just missed a double-double with 14 points, nine rebounds, seven steals and three blocked shots. Ada Rivera recorded eight points and three rebounds.
Rosewood (13-9 overall, 11-2 CC) entertains league-leading and rival Princeton on Thursday. A win assures the Eagles of a tie for the regular-season crown.
