WINTERVILLE -- Charles B. Aycock opened its Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference season with a 1-1 worksheet Tuesday evening.

The Golden Falcons recorded six falls and four forfeits during a 66-18 triumph over South Central. Defending ECC regular-season champ New Bern handed Aycock a 48-33 defeat.

"We had a chance, but gave up too many pinfall losses," Golden Falcons head coach Brian Doyle said of the New Bern loss. "(They) recorded five pinfalls of the nine contested matches and that was the difference."

The teams combined for five forfeits.

Junior Nathan Lucas and freshman Colby Perry each recorded their first-ever varsity win on the mat -- both by pin against South Central.

Senior Joshua Wallace (34-0 overall), Chris Parks, James Reser and Torrence Franklin each ended the night 2-0. Austin Doyle, Tyler Hughes and T'Shon Swinson each went 1-0.

The Golden Falcons (15-8 overall, 1-1 ECC) return to action Friday in the two-day Pruitt-Rainey Invitational hosted by Cleveland High School.
