* Boys' basketball: Greenfield 75, Wayne Christian 65 -- Jaydon Young posted 19 points, six rebounds and six assists for WCS. Jeremy Bently scored 15 points. Blake Tinker and Justin Ashford (seven rebounds) registered 13 points apiece. Addison Johnson chipped in with 10 points, seven rebounds and three assists.

* Boys' basketball: C.B. Aycock 33, South Central 30 -- Jacari Outlaw paced the Golden Falcons' offense with 16 points. Jaylan Robinson registered seven points. CBA (9-3 overall) improved to 3-0 in Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference play this season.

* Girls' basketball: C.B. Aycock 30, South Central 22 -- Taylor Gay led the Golden Falcons' offense with 14 points. Morgan Casey, Sharon Moorefield and Heaven Tatum each had four points. Jenna Oliver and Shi Speight each scored two points.

* Boys' basketball: Pope John Paul 60, Wayne Country Day 59 -- Jaden Cooper knocked down 16 points in the Chargers' loss. Andrew Gattis scored 15 points. WCDS fell to 5-4 overall and 1-1 in Coastal Plains Independent 1-A Conference play.

* Boys' basketball: Eastern Wayne 39, J.H. Rose 24 -- Sophomore Rudy Spears led the Warriors with 16 points, six rebounds and three steals. Isaiah Hall added eight points, two assists and one steal.

Middle schools

* Boys' basketball: Greenfield 38, Wayne Christian 28 -- No game statistics were submitted.
