PREPS DIGEST: JV, middle school news

* Girls' basketball: C.B. Aycock 26, D.H. Conley 25 -- Heaven Tatum led the Golden Falcons' offense with eight points. Jenna Oliver tallied five pionts. Sharon Moorefield scored four points. Taylor Gay, Morgan Casey, Dassani Jackson and Shi Speight registered two points apiece.

* Boys' basketball: C.B. Aycock 41, D.H. Conley 38 -- Tyrie Artis drained the game-winning 3-pointer at the buzzer to cap the Golden Falcons' road win Thursday. Jaylan Robinson led CBA's offense with 13 points, followed by Jacari Outlaw (eight points), Josh Gooding (six points) and AliJuan Moore (six points).

* Boys' basketball: Spring Creek 42, Hobbton 32 -- Demartae Bizzell paced the Gators' offense with 15 points.

* Girls' basketball: North Lenoir 43, Southern Wayne 28 -- La'Miya Pearsall and Kiah Murriell provided 12 and seven points, respectively, in the Saints' road loss. Southern Wayne (7-1 overall) entertains C.B. Aycock on Friday.

Middle schools

* Girls' basketball: Norwayne 38, Grantham 28 -- Katie Parrish paced the unbeaten Cobras with 18 points. Abbie Thomas and Carly Radford scored six points apiece.

* Boys' basketball: Norwayne 54, Grantham 44 -- Clay Matthews delivered a game-high 13 points, dished out four assists and picked the Bulldogs for three steals. Anthony Williams flirted with a double-double -- 10 points, eight rebounds. Omar Tucker provided 10 points and seven rebounds. Trevor Reid registered seven points, eight rebounds and six assists. Ashton Perozini logged five points and five steals. Norwayne (3-1 overall) visits Greenwood on Monday.

* Girls' basketball: Wayne Christian 10, Grace Christian-Sanford 8 -- Brianna Verme and Hayli Verme knocked down six and four points, respectively, during the Eagles' win. Brianna scored four points in the fourth quarter. Wayne Christian (2-4 overall) returns to action after the holidays.
