* Girls' basketball: Southern Wayne 39, Goldsboro 10 -- Ariana Sutton paced the Saints' attack with 12 points. La'Miya Pearsall chipped in 10 for Southern Wayne, which remained unbeaten in three outings this season. Kanauti Hines and Akia Drumgoole each had four points for the Cougars.
* Boys' basketball: Southern Wayne 74, Goldsboro 46 -- Jyrei Thompson led the Cougars' offense with 11 points, while teammate Tyjuwan Barnes scored 10 points. Dishon Rhodes collected nine points.
