INDOOR TRACK: Princeton's Sullivan headed to state meet

Princeton senior Austin Sullivan emerged victorious in the 1,600-meter run and punched his ticket to the season-ending N.C. High School Athletic Association Classes 1-A/2-A state championship meet.
Sullivan completed the race in 4 minutes, 45 seconds during the Polar Bear event contested at Rosewood High School. Sullivan also claimed the 1,000-meter race in 2:54.
The host Eagles had five individual winners -- boys' shot putter Bryton Lambeth (40 feet, 4 inches), high jumper Kris Wright (5-4), sprinter Amrei Atwell (6.9 seconds in 55-meter dash), Sydney Reiss (girls' 300 dash in 45.51 seconds) and long-distance runner Cameron Smith (3,200 in 12:14).
Atwell led a 1-2-3 finish in the 55-meter race.
Rosewood claimed the 3,200- and 800-meter relays, and won the team portion of the event with 135.33 points.
Southern Wayne's Xavious Speight secured first place in the long jump with a mark of 16 feet, 6 inches. On the girls' side, Caroline Best topped the 1,600-meter field with a time of 7:08.
The Saints won the girls' 1,600 and 3,200 relays. The boys captured first in the 800 and 1,600 relays.
Spring Creek's Emily Dupuy won the high jump (4-4).
