* Girls' basketball: C.B. Aycock 25, Goldsboro 18 -- Morgan Casey and Taylor Gay knocked down seven points apiece in the Golden Falcons' season-opening win. Sharon Moorefield and Dasani Jackson each tallied four points. Heaven Tatum added two points. Akia Drumgoole led Goldsboro with a game-high nine points.
* Boys' basketball: C.B. Aycock 22, Goldsboro 19 -- Jacari Outlaw emerged as the Golden Falcons' top offensive leader with six points. Teammates Jaylan Robinson and Alijuan Moore contributed five points apiece. Jyrei Thompson paced Goldsboro's attack with 10 points. It was the season-opening game for both teams.
