VOLLEYBALL: New Bern tops CBA in 4 sets

PIKEVILLE -- New Bern built a two-set advantage and eased past Charles B. Aycock 25-5, 30-28, 23-25, 25-15 in an Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference battle Thursday afternoon.
Arlanda Faulkner turned in a 15-kill performance for the Golden Falcons, who fell to 15-6 overall and 5-6 against ECC opposition this season. Tanika Powell and sophomore Daelyn Brock provided six kills apiece.
The Bears held CBA to a .065 hitting percentage.
Brock, Faulkner and Hannah Carter combined to serve 10 aces.
On the defensive side, Cyerra Carter posted a team-high five blocks. Libero Cassandra Lassiter led five Golden Falcons in double figures with 26 digs. Powell collected 18 digs. Faulkner and Brock logged 14 digs apiece, while Carter had 12.
Carter dished out 28 assists.
