CALYPSO -- North Duplin converted three fourth-down plays on its final touchdown drive of the night, and handed Carolina 1-A Conference rival James Kenan a 21-12 defeat at H.E. Grubbs Field.
The Rebels succeeded on a fourth-and-4 play at midfield and a fourth-and-7 play from inside the red zone. Will Archer's 9-yard touchdown strike to Kenny Sheppard sealed the outcome with 6:07 left in regulation.
It also snapped the Tigers' four-game win streak in the series.
Archer accounted for 166 yards of total offense and two TDs in the 39th installment in the series. He rushed for 136 yards and a second-quarter touchdown on 23 carries. He completed 2 of 2 passes for 30 yards -- the Sheppard scoring pass and a 21-yard shot to Luke Britt.
Colby Bass contributed 73 yards and a second-quarter touchdown on 20 attempts. Bass' short TD burst capped an eye-popping 20-play drive that last the entire first quarter and six seconds into the second quarter.
The Rebels overcame a false start and holding penalty on the drive.
Kenny Sheppard rambled for 39 yards on 13 totes.
North Duplin punted just three times.
The Rebels (4-3 overall, 2-0 Carolina) are the guests of Rosewood next Friday. Kickoff is 7 p.m. at Branch Pope Field.
