PREP FOOTBALL: New Bern defense shuts out Eastern Wayne

NEW BERN -- New Bern held Eastern Wayne to minus-33 yards of total offense during its 26-0 victory in Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference play at Caruso-Coates Field on Friday evening.
The Bears allowed minus-53 yards rushing and 20 yards passing on 19 attempts. The Warriors punted on nine possessions, committed two turnovers and held the ball for nearly 17 minutes.
EW earned its lone first down in the fourth quarter.
The teams combined for 24 penalties that covered nearly 150 yards.
The Warriors (3-3 overall, 1-1 ECC) are off until Oct. 14 when they play host to J.H. Rose.
